22 Unusual Uses For Banana Peels

19. Heal those hemorrhoids

There is nothing more embarrassing or painful than having hemorrhoids. Use a few banana peels and about a teaspoon of witch hazel in your blender to make a paste. Dip a strip of clean gauze into the mixture and apply it to the affected area for about 30 minutes. Witch hazel and natural astringent components can help reduce swelling and reduce pain, as well as clean the area.

20. Cleaning ink stains on the skin

Ink stains are no stranger to lefties. Just rub the inside of a banana peel against your skin if it makes a pen pop or you get ink all over your fingers. As the oils in the peel bind to the pigments in the ink, they will be easier to remove and wash off.

21. Free the kitchen from annoying flies

The worst thing about flies is when they wander into your kitchen and land on your favorite food. Why don't you try making your own trap out of banana peels? Take a large jar with a lid and poke a few holes in it. Place banana peels inside and screw on the lid. Your flies will then be attracted to your trap and will enter it without returning.

22. Recovering a scratched CD or DVD

For those who still use CD players and DVD drives, nothing is more frustrating than a scratched and skipped video game, album, or movie. Use the white side of a banana peel to gently rub the underside of a disc and then remove any residue with a soft cloth. After cleaning and polishing the CD with glass cleaner, you'll find that the natural waxiness of the peel already fills in any scratches that were causing skipping and pausing.
