Let's talk about donuts. Deliciously sweet donuts, sweets and jams. It's great, right? But we don't need to tell you that they're not a good breakfast choice. Aside from being high in saturated fat and sugar (doughnuts are fried, in case you didn't know!), and quite low in healthy things like fiber and vitamins, donuts are definitely a treat. The problem is that they are sold in bars and when do we tend to go to them more? Breakfast! They sit there, looking so adorable, round and donut-like, luring us through the glass. We might decide to eat a donut instead of yogurt and granola if we feel particularly tired, stressed or emotional. Instead of keeping us full until lunchtime, we'll get that familiar sugar high after eating a donut, only to crash when our blood sugar levels drop again soon after. Disastrous for our healthy eating plans. Be sure to indulge in these treats occasionally. Lunch time seems hours away and we grab a chocolate bar to keep us going. Disastrous for our healthy eating plans.
